The Job

As an Operations Manager, your role will be critical in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the day-to-day activities with a focus on offshore cultivation operations. By coordinating logistics, maintaining equipment, overseeing data collection, and managing personnel, you will contribute to the overall success of the company's offshore operations. Your attention to detail, strong teamplayer and excellent communication skills, as well as your ability to manage resources effectively will be essential in maintaining high standards of operation and productivity. 

  • ⁠Coordinate all logistics for the offshore cultivation site. 

  • Collect data for regulatory compliance and performance evaluation 

  • Operate and maintain boat, trailer and associated equipment (ADCP, PAR sensor, etc.), and manage deckhand. 

  • Develop and implement SOPs for main activities associated with offshore operations to ensure consistency and redundancy in activities. 

  • Manage inventory and supplies related to offshore operations. 

  • Focus on safety through regular safety assessments and risk evaluations. 

About you

We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team and play a key role in the development of our small organization. As we continue to grow, we are faced with various challenges that require innovative solutions and a can-do attitude. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across different functions and geographies, fostering collaboration and ensuring smooth execution of activities. Due to the size of our team, you will often find yourself rolling up your sleeves and taking on tasks to ensure they are completed according to plan, either independently or in collaboration with other team members. 

Requirements for this position include 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in marine biology, aquaculture, environmental science, engineering or operations management. 

  • At least 3 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the aquaculture or marine-related industry. 

  • Minimum 1 year with previous leadership/management experience. 

  • Expertise in operations management, including logistics coordination, resource allocation, and equipment maintenance. 

  • Proven leadership skills and experience in team management, performance evaluation, and fostering a positive work environment. 

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

  • Commitment to safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. 

  • Adaptability, resilience, and the ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Knowledge of seaweed cultivation principles, techniques, and industry best practices. 

  • Relevant boating licenses (I.e., Cal Boater Card, 25-ton UCSG license) 

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications  

  • PADI/NAWI or similar Dive Certification

Starting salary
