Lava Seaweed Joint Venture

Lava Seaweed ehf is an Icelandic company specializing in sustainable seaweed cultivation and processing. Established as a joint venture between Icelandic investors and the Faroese company Ocean Rainforest, Lava Seaweed leverages Iceland's unique natural resources, including lava-filtered cold Arctic seawater and sustainable geothermal energy.

The company focuses on producing red seaweed species, such as Palmaria palmata (commonly known as dulse), for applications in food and functional feed. Notably, Lava Seaweed is the lead partner in the CircleFeed project, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from dairy cattle by incorporating seaweed-based feed into their diets.
