Ocean Rainforest to present at Nordtic Conference in Reykjavík
Ocean Rainforest’s cultivation and harvesting of seaweed on the open ocean is the subject of increasing interest across the world. In addition to featuring on the DR P1 programme ‘Havet venter’ (meaning ‘The Ocean Awaits’) about the potential of the oceans earlier this month, Ocean Rainforest has been invited to present at the Nordtic conference on Nordic Bioeconomy and Arctic Bioeconomy to be held on June 25th. The bioeconomy is at the centre of Nordic cooperation in 2014. NordBio, the largest of three programmes under the Icelandic chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers, is aimed at optimizing utilization of biological resources and minimizing waste, thus bolstering the Nordic Bioeconomy. Our managing director, Ólavur Gregersen will present on the topic ’Investing in Algae – Ingredients for future food production’. The Nordtic conference is held in connection with the annual meeting of Council of Ministers for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MR-FJLS). MR-FJSL is responsible for the implementation of NordBio, in cooperation with the Nordic Councils of Ministers for the Environment (MR-M), Trade, Energy and Regional Policies (MR-NER), Educations and Research (MR-U), and Culture (MR-K).
