US Sales Lead

The Job 

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Ocean Rainforest’s biostimulant business in the US. We are seeking an experienced Sales Lead with a proven track record in driving sales and revenue growth, specifically within the biostimulant or fertilizer sectors. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in agricultural sales and tech-to-market strategies to spearhead initiatives aimed at expanding market presence, fostering distributor relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction for seaweed and seaweed-based products.  

A solid understanding of bio stimulant / fertilizer markets, production, and agriculture is crucial, as this role demands someone who can translate these insights into tangible benefits for both our farmers and prospective distributors. 

 This role requires a commitment to frequent travel, which requires strong organizational and time-management skills. We're looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get the job done.  For the beginning the target areas will be Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo.   

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop new prospects and engage with existing growers to increase agricultural inputs sales, meeting and exceeding sales goals.

  • Manage sales to achieve profit margin targets and ensure customer satisfaction, including on-time delivery and product quality. 

  • Devise and execute strategies to boost sales of proprietary products. 

  • Consult with growers on agricultural issues and recommend appropriate actions to resolve concerns, addressing any adverse product results. 

  • Have an intricate knowledge and relationship with the main distributors in California 

  • Maintain strong self-motivation while collecting and recording information on assigned accounts and supporting customers to make Ocean Rainforest their preferred supplier. 

  • Fulfill any other duties as assigned in the context of Ocean Rainforest’s work in California.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in an Agronomy related field. 

  • Either certified C.PAg 

  • Proven track record of success in inside/outside sales, with a focus on the agricultural sector. 

  • Demonstrated expertise in driving sales and revenue growth within the biostimulant or fertilizer sectors. 

  • Strong understanding of agricultural sales and tech-to-market strategies. 

  • Proficiency in conducting professional sales calls with confidence and empathy. 

  • Solid comprehension of commodity trading, fertilizer markets, production, and agriculture. 

  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. 

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 

  • Willingness to travel frequently. 

Preferred qualifications 

  • Master's degree in agronomy related field. 

  • CPA.g certified 

  • Familiarity with seaweed and seaweed-based products in agricultural applications. 

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and market research. 

  • Strong network within the agricultural industry, particularly in southern California. 

  • Certification or training in sales techniques or agricultural technology. 

  • Fluency in Spanish

Starting salary: $75,000 to $90,000 depending on experience.
